Louisiana Business Loans
Louisiana owners deal with cash-flow pressures that are less common elsewhere: energy-sector customers who pay on long terms, hurricane-season interruptions, and a hospitality calendar built around festivals and football. SMB Compass provides SBA loans, equipment financing and receivables-based credit lines for Louisiana businesses, and we try to fit the structure to those cycles rather than force the business into a standard payment schedule. The first step is reviewing your books to see which structure makes sense before anyone is approached.
Business financing in Louisiana
SMB Compass provides financing for established businesses from $25,000 to $5 million, with funding in as little as 24 hours. Applying takes a few minutes and won’t affect your credit score.

Health care practices and home health
Clinics, therapy practices and home health agencies across Louisiana bill Medicaid and commercial insurers, then wait on reimbursements while payroll goes out every two weeks. A revolving line of credit covers that gap, and equipment financing spreads the cost of imaging or diagnostic equipment over the years it will actually be used. For practice purchases or a second location, an SBA 7(a) loan is often the first structure we check.

Restaurants and hospitality
New Orleans kitchens and Acadiana dining rooms can do a large share of their year around Mardi Gras, festival weekends and the fall football season, then run thin in the heat of late summer. Owners use lines of credit to stock up and staff up before peak weeks, and equipment financing to replace walk-ins or hood systems without emptying the operating account. SBA loans can fit a buildout or an acquisition where the timeline allows.

Oil and gas services
Service companies supporting Louisiana’s upstream and petrochemical operators often finish a job, invoice a large operator, and then wait out the payment cycle while crews and fuel still have to be paid. Invoice financing turns those approved invoices into working capital, and asset-based lines can be sized against receivables and heavy equipment together. When a contract calls for new trucks, pumps or other equipment, equipment financing keeps the purchase off the credit line.

FAQ
Louisiana business loan questions
Where can Louisiana business owners get free help before applying for a loan?
The Louisiana SBDC Network, hosted by LSU, runs nine regional centers plus a statewide growth center and covers all 64 parishes with no-cost, confidential consulting on business plans, projections and loan preparation. The SBA’s Louisiana District Office in New Orleans can also explain SBA loan programs and disaster assistance.
Does Louisiana have a state program that helps small businesses qualify for bank loans?
Yes. Louisiana’s SSBCI Small Business Loan Guaranty Program can guarantee up to 80% of a qualifying loan or $1.5 million, whichever is lower. Businesses do not apply directly; an LED preferred lender or other insured bank, credit union or CDFI submits the request.
What disclosures should I receive on a merchant cash advance in Louisiana?
Under R.S. 9:3137.10, enacted by HB 470 in 2025, a revenue-based financing agreement must come with written disclosures of the funds provided and disbursed, total repayment, total cost, payment terms and any prepayment costs. Compare those numbers side by side with any loan offer before signing.
How do Louisiana oilfield service companies handle slow-paying operator invoices?
Many use invoice financing, which advances cash against approved invoices, or an asset-based line secured by receivables and equipment. Which one fits depends on customer concentration, invoice size and how much equipment is on the balance sheet, which our team reviews before recommending a structure.
