Iowa Business Loans

Iowa’s economy is built around farming and the businesses that serve it: equipment dealers, grain handlers, food processors and the manufacturers that supply them. SMB Compass provides equipment, SBA and working capital financing for Iowa owners whose revenue rises and falls with planting, harvest and commodity prices. Iowa’s SSBCI collateral support and Manufacturing 4.0 programs work only through a lender applying for you, and we can explain how that process runs.

Financing for Iowa industries

Where we see the most demand for business financing in Iowa.

Agriculture and ag services

Iowa crop and livestock operations, custom applicators and grain haulers spend heavily on seed, feed, fuel and machinery months before they sell. Equipment financing spreads large machinery purchases over several seasons, and a revolving line can cover inputs until harvest or livestock sales come in.

Manufacturing

Iowa manufacturers of ag equipment, components and food products often automate to cope with labor shortages, which means large capital purchases. Equipment financing and SBA loans fund new technology and facility upgrades, and the state’s Manufacturing 4.0 Loan Participation Program can reduce lender risk on qualifying projects.

Manufacturing is Iowa’s third-largest small business employer, with 63,955 small business employees. (source)

Construction

Iowa’s short building season squeezes a year’s revenue into fewer months, while payroll and materials are due up front. Invoice financing on progress billings and a line of credit for the winter slowdown help contractors stay steady year-round.

Iowa has more small construction employers (8,812) than in any other industry, employing 60,604 people. (source)
